We are a full-service contractor building homes in the Cowichan Valley. We approach our work in a different way; we believe the home building process should be an invigorating and creative experience. We stand by your side and guide you through the whole process from land purchase, through design, selections, and right through construction up to the day we hand you the keys to your beautiful new home. We like to call our process "Concierge Construction" because like a great concierge we are not only there for you when needed but we are quietly anticipating your needs to ensure we can serve you better every day.

A PASSION FOR PREPARATION
We believe that the time before you start construction is the most valuable time we have in a project. This starts with getting to know you and your family, understanding how you are going to use the spaces, how you live now and how you want to live in the future. We then work with you through the design phase, assembling the right Design Team, from Draftsman, to Architect, to Interior Designer, to Structural Engineer. We then work in concert with you and our team to create a set of plans that 'fulfills the dream'. During that process we work with our construction teams, local trades and suppliers to build you a budget that is fully inclusive of all your requests. We present it in a way that leaves no questions unanswered, giving you confidence to move forward onto the build stage.

Building the dream
During the entire build process, you will have total access to the current schedule, current photos, decisions needed, decisions made, and project communication. We do this through our customer website, so you can see everything from the comfort of your couch or from the beach while on vacation. We will also meet you onsite as often as you would like to go over progress and maybe catch inspiration for a new bedroom window during a sunrise. We also have built a detailed process for quality control from foundation waterproofing to cabinet handle placement. We have specifically scheduled reviews for both members of our team and outside experts to ensure we are on top of the details, so you don't have to be.

LIVING THE DREAM
Just because you move in does not mean we move on. We are there for you for the years to come. We of course have the obligatory 2-5-10 warranty, but more importantly we have pride in our craftsmanship and we stand behind anything and everything we build. We want to ensure you are just as happy when you come home 25 years from now as the first day you moved in.

Building IT Green
We love pushing the envelope when it comes to new and innovative ways to build. We believe that 'green building' is not about just slapping solar panels on your roof. It begins with great a design that will stand the test of time. We first believe that the best economical and ecological choice is to build a home that will not need to be torn down in 50 or 100 years. A home that is not only durable but beautiful so people want to maintain it. We believe in sensible approaches, and that great design will use its environment to create its own energy. We believe that choices like orientation to the sun not only save energy but also creates a wonderful place to live. We believe that the choices that have the biggest impact on whether your house is 'green' or not do not cost money, they just take some care, patience, and attention. We are also nerds when it comes to 'green building' innovation and technology, and love building passive homes and off-grid cabins. We believe that a home should embrace and enhance its environment.

Building it Different
At Habitat Projects we think that just because most homes these days are built with 2x6's and stucco does not mean that they all have to be built that way. We love building unique homes for unique people. We love building using different materials to enhance the architecture. From steel and glass curtain walls, to timber and earthen fireplaces. From little log cabins to improbable cliff gripping works of art. From indoor slides to bunkbeds that reach 5 high. We believe that sometimes the right solution has to be innovated, sometimes the right solution was perfected 800 years ago, and sometimes the perfect solution is the combination of that old-world craftsmanship and innovative technology, a collision of analog and digital, if you will. We have had years of experience in 'alternative construction' building the 'weird and wild' all over this lovely country of ours. We love a new challenge; bring us your dream, and we will build it together.
